Technical Bulletin - May 2026: GoPOS Version A260310 (Database Version 18) Supplemental Notes

5 min. readlast update: 05.13.2026

As Spring 2026 continues to march on, our development team at Optima are hammering away with your continuous feedback, refining and improving the GoPOS and PCProg software, as well as adding new features and improvements. With this ongoing work in the background comes with some exciting new things in the very near future.

Before we make such announcements, we must first address some existing issues with a new software update. However, this is not like any other software update, which is why this Tech Bulletin update is necessary.

We now have GoPOS Version A260310, DB version 18, which should be available now at the time of writing this bulletin. This version is compatible with PCProg version 1.1.2.2 DB version 18, and includes bug fixes, but more importantly, a major update underneath the hood.

Within the coding of GoPOS, we managed to improve the performance and efficiency of the software in our APOS terminals by a significant margin. Some of you who have been testing our software for a while have noticed the difference right away.

For a more detailed information on the additions and changes, please refer to the latest copy of the GoPOS release notes, available in the Dealer Portal.

With this significant performance improvement also came with new development tools that put together GoPOS by our incredible programming team. For the long term, we will continue to support our APOS terminals running older versions of Android. Moving forward, we will have two installers for subsequent releases of GoPOS. One for APOS terminals running Android 7, 8, and 10, the other for APOS terminals running Android 12 and beyond.

The GoPOS variant for APOS terminals running Android versions 7, 8, and 10 can be used to directly upgrade APOS terminals running older versions of GoPOS. However, please keep in mind that if you are upgrading GoPOS running versions A250208 - DB version 15 or older, you will need to perform a step upgrade with a version of GoPOS older than A250208, but newer than the version of GoPOS you are upgrading from, typically a version that came originally with the APOS terminal you are upgrading from within the last 2 or 3 years.

For newer APOS terminals running Android 12, you will need to perform the Upgrade Process steps, which will be covered further below this bulletin.

As a precaution for any upgrade process, it is imperative that a backup must be performed prior to upgrading GoPOS. This includes performing the Backup, Export Data, Program Backup, and receiving the programming data from the APOS terminal into PCProg and saving the project to your PC or laptop hard drive.

If you have any questions or in need of assistance in this process, please contact Optima Support at 1-888-475-4767, or email Optima POS Support at possupport@optimagopos.ca.

The upgrade process steps are further below of this article (after the table) for steps on how to backup data, uninstall the previous version of GoPOS and install the new updated version of GoPOS. The upgrade process steps are further below of this article (after the table) for steps on how to backup data and install the new updated version of GoPOS.

The following is a breakdown of versions of Android that are or were installed with APOS terminals:

Android Version APOS Model Notes
7.1.x APOS-02, APOS-03, APOS-04, APOS-05L, APOS-05

Direct Upgrade, no uninstall necessary.

8.1 APOS-04
10 APOS-01
12+ APOS-02, APOS-03, APOS-04, APOS-05

For existing installs at client sites, Upgrade Process steps MUST be performed.

Upgrade Process for APOS Terminals Running Android 12

Due to structural changes and future-proofing GOPOS for compatibility with newer Android versions, this update requires a full uninstall of the previous version followed by a fresh installation including license reactivation. The reactivation process is done once.

If the APOS contains important sales data, we recommend the following:

  1. Perform a backup and an Export Data for redundancy
  2. Upgrade to version A260310 (this will update the existing database to the latest system structure)
    • If you are already on this version, you can skip this step
  3. Once completed, eject the microSD card
    • This can be done via Android settings or by physically removing it from the terminal
    • ⚠️ If the SD card is not removed before uninstalling GOPOS, the backup will be deleted
  4. Go to Android Settings → Apps → Optima GoPOS → Home App → Quickstep (or Launcher 3)
  5. Go back to Android Settings → Apps → Optima GoPOS → Uninstall
  6. Insert your USB with version A260310 and proceed with the installation

Return to Android Settings, then select Apps.

Then select Optima GoPOS. If you don't see it right away, select "All apps" and locate it there.

Select Battery and ensure it is set to "Unrestricted." This is important as Android may limit performance or close GoPOS when idle if the setting is set to Optimized or Restricted.

The final step in Android Settings is to set GoPOS as the Home App.

Once this is completed, you will be automatically taken to GoPOS, where you will need to activate the software.

Click on any product or numeric key, and the activation screen will appear. Please take a screenshot/photo of this screen and email it to possupport@optimagopos.ca. We will then send you the activation key. Save the key to a USB drive, and copy it into the Downloads folder on your APOS terminal.

Next, select Offline Activation Mode, then choose the activation key from the Downloads folder to complete the activation process.

Perform a test transaction to verify that the APOS terminal is functioning and that the GoPOS software is activated.

Once verified, restart the APOS terminal. Once you are back in GoPOS, you can then restore your backups either by performing the Restore function (which includes sales and reports data), Program Restore, or sending the configuration from PCProg to the APOS terminal.

We thank you for your continuous support. Special thanks to our selected testers for making this release and previous releases possible.
