4 min. readlast update: 02.20.2025

This article will explain how to add advertisements on Customer Display screens. The following steps will require access to the APOS desktop outside of the GoPOS software.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please ensure there are no spaces in the filename of the images you want to show on the customer display screen. The only acceptable characters are letters upper case (A-Z), lower case (a-z), numbers (0-9) and symbols such as underscore (_) and dash (-). The default maximum image size is 512 x 600 pixels. The supported image file formats are the following:

JPEG (.jpg/.jpeg)

PNG (.png)

Bitmap (.bmp)

GIF (.gif)

Supported Displays

These steps are valid for the following customer display models:

  • APOS-05 with attached 10-inch customer display
  • OPT-EPD7 7-inch LCD external pole display*
  • OPT-EPD10 10-inch LCD external pole display*

*NOTE: For further information on how to connect the LCD external pole displays with the APOS models, please see our guide in the link below.

How To Add and Setup External Pole Displays with the APOS Terminals (OPT-EPD7 and OPT-EPD10

The following steps will use the APOS-05 for the customer display setup as our example.

Steps

  1. In Optima GoPOS, ensure you are logged in as Manager or a clerk with programming priveleges (P) enabled.
  2. In the Home Screen select Menu > Settings > Android Desktop. Example is shown below.

NOTE: If you do not have the Android Desktop option (from GoPOS version A230909 and above), perform the following alternate steps below in blue. Otherwise, proceed to Step 3.

i) From the Home Screen, select Menu > Settings > Android Bars, which will reveal the navigation bars at the bottom of the screen, shown in the screenshot below:

ii) Tap on the square icon on the navigation bar to reveal multiple windows. You may need to drag up or down the windows until you see the yellow Explorer window and then proceed to Step 5. If you do not see the yellow Explorer window, select the Launcher 3 window (shown in the screenshot below) to show the displayed apps grid, and proceed to Step 4 below. If you do not see the yellow Explorer window, tap on the square icon to go to the Android Desktop.

  1. When you are on the Android Desktop, tap and hold the arrow that points up near the bottom centre of the screen in order to reveal the apps grid, shown in the example below.

  1. From the apps grid, select Explorer.
  2. Next, select your USB drive, shown in the example below.

  1. From your USB drive, navigate to the images you want to copy. Select Multi from the yellow bar, and then select the files you want to copy over, shown in the screenshot below. The selected files will be in yellow text.

  1. Once you have selected the image files you want, select Editor from the yellow bar, and then select Copy, shown in the screenshot below.

  1. Once the images are copied, select Level Up from the yellow bar until you are back to the root section of Explorer showing Internal Memory, SD Card, and USB.
  2. From root, select Internal Memory, then select the folder opos, then select slideshow. The screenshot below will show the path at the top of the image. The slideshow folder is where you should paste the selected images.

  1. To paste the selected images, tap on Editor on the yellow bar, and then in the pop-up list, select Paste.

Once the images are pasted, run the Optima GoPOS software and the images should be on the customer display, replacing the Optima GoPOS logo. If you have a single image, the image itself will remain in place of where the Optima GoPOS logo was previously. If you copied multiple images, an image slideshow will be in effect, and the images will cycle every 3-5 seconds.

NOTE: If you do not see images at all, or if certain images are missing in the customer display, please check the file format and the filename itself and ensure there are no spaces or symbols that are not supported.
